Larry Nance Jr. Makes Joke About Jontay Porter
Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

Jontay Porter now finds himself as the subject of many jokes.

Following the New Orleans Pelicans win over the Sacramento Kings, Larry Nance Jr. said that he’s betting on the Pelicans.

Nance quickly backtracked on his comments and hilariously stated that he’s not actually betting on the series, via Pelicans Film Room:

“Respectfully, I’m betting on the Pels… I’m not betting. No Jontay Porter. I’m not betting. I’m not betting on anything. I don’t own a betting app, none of that.”

There are certainly going to be a lot more jokes made at Porter’s expense. Porter was banned from the NBA on April 17 following an investigation into prop-betting irregularities.

Porter was found to have placed at least 13 bets between January and March during the 2023-24 season and earned close to $22,000 in winnings.

The NBA launched an investigation after they discovered a strange betting pattern linked to Porter. They found that he exited a game early on March 20 which directly influenced the results of a bet. Porter reportedly disclosed confidential information to a known gambler.
Due to the unusual betting activity and Porter leaving the game early, the $80,000 proposition bet on Porter to underperform was frozen and was not paid out.

The 24-year-old Porter averaged 4.4 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 26 games, including five starts for the Toronto Raptors. He also played in 11 games for the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2020-21 season.
