Steven Kwan may not be getting all the respect he deserves in the race for the American League Rookie of the Year Award, but he sure is putting up some good numbers and deserves to at least be considered for it.

The Cleveland Guardians‘ young outfielder is an on-base machine.

He’s turned into the table setter for this young, upstart Guardians team, hitting .298 with three home runs, 35 RBI, and an on-base percentage of .372.

In fact, he’s made a ton of history this season, becoming the first Cleveland rookie to have two on-base streaks of at least 18 games since Al Rosen in 1950, reaching base 177 times this year via a hit, walk, or a hit-by-pitch, which is the most through a 112-game stretch since Luke Easter did it 179 times between 1949 and 1950.

Kwan’s ROTY Case

While the world focuses on Adley Rutschman and Julio Rodriguez, Kwan is quietly putting together a very strong case to earn the Rookie of the Year Award.

He certainly deserves consideration.

Before the voters hand it off to Rutschman or Rodriguez, they need to take a hard look at what Kwan has been able to do this season.

He made the team out of spring training and ran with his opportunity to show the city of Cleveland and the baseball world what he’s made of.

It’s clear that he’s more than capable of putting on a show.

He may be the underdog in the race for the award, but he really shouldn’t be.

He’s been with the big-league club all season and has not slowed down since his historically hot start to the year.

We’ll see if the voters ultimately see what we see and give Kwan some consideration.
