Lando Norris admits he’s ‘annoyed and unhappy’ following his 2024 mistakes

McLaren’s ace, Lando Norris claims he is a big overthinker and is not very content with his progress this season. Norris is off to a better start, compared to his last season, however, his mistakes during key moments have left him a bit disppointed.

The Brit finished in P6 at the Bahrain GP and managed an eighth place during the Jeddah weekend. Although he had backed his strategy during the Saudi Arabian GP, he previously analyzed where he could’ve done better.

Lando Norris did get a podium during the Australian GP but came tumbling down to P5 during the Suzuka event, the inconsistent results have gotten to him.

I am self-critical and I know it can look bad from the outside, absolutely. I watch my own interviews and I look so annoyed and unhappy. It’s because my mind is whirling, I’m thinking: ‘Why did I make a mistake? What happened if I did this or that? What if I had tried something else? But I set high goals for myself, I know what I am capable of, I want to try to achieve great things and I am not going to do that by being complacent. Lando Norris told: The Gaurdian

This is Norris’s sixth year with McLaren and he believes that he will be able to claim a championship with them in the upcoming years. The British driver is yet to claim a Grand prix win despite having multiple podiums.

Lando Norris doesn’t wish to be a teammate of his best friend Max Verstappen

The 24-year-old driver, Lando Norris, believes that he can go up against his prolific best friend Max Verstappen, however, he doesn’t want to do that while being his teammate. Prior to this season, Norris renewed his contract with McLaren.

While opening up about why he thinks he and Verstappen shouldn’t be teammates, he had the following to say.

I absolutely think I can go up against Max and give him a good challenge. But I also rate Max, so for anyone it’s extremely difficult to go up against Max in his team and challenge him for a world championship. He could have moved to Mercedes back in the day and gone up against Lewis [Hamilton] but would it have been a smart idea to have done that? Probably not and he probably wouldn’t be in a Red Bull now and it would be a different story. Lando Norris via the same interview

The British driver got his first podium of the ongoing campaign at the Australian GP. However, since then, he has gone a bit off the boil as he has not been able to land his MCL38 in the top three. Keeping in view that F1 has returned to China after a span of five years, it is going to be fascinating to see how Norris will stack up against the Dutchman at the Shanghai International racing circuit.
